Abdulwasiu Olatokunbo Ayodele Martins was born in London, England on
17th
March 1961 and is a product of the Methodist Boys' High School,
Lagos where he
finished in 1978 and a graduate of the University of East London,
Essex, England,
United Kingdom from which he obtained his first degree in Law in
1984, graduating
with first class honors.
He is the holder of a Master of Laws (with first class honors) from
Cambridge
University having attended Trinity College, Cambridge in 1985. He
was called to the
Bar of England & Wales in 1986 and was enrolled as a Solicitor and
Advocate of the
Supreme Court of Nigeria in 1992.
He is currently the Managing Director of HFP Engineering (Nigeria)
Limited ("HFP")
a position he has held since July 2008.
Prior to joining the HFP Group in 1997, 'Dele Martins had acquired
over 11 years post
qualification experience with various legal firms of international
repute including the
firm of Slaughter and May in England, as well as Babalakin & Co. in
Nigeria.
HFP is a Construction and Civil Engineering Company responsible for the construction and development of many highbrow projects including the prestigious Victoria Garden City, Dolphin Estate, Mayfair Gardens, Sura Market, Victoria Court Cemetery, lkota International Shopping Complex of over 3000 Shops, Mayfair Gardens Shopping Complex, HFP-Eastline Shopping Complex of over 3,000 Shops and Fountain Spring Ville Housing Estate, Sangotedo, Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lagos as well as the construction of numerous roads, office buildings, Housing and Infrastructure Projects. 'Dele Martins is also responsible for the day-to-day management of HFP Properties Limited, the property management Company responsible for the maintenance and management of lkota International Shopping Complex, Dolphin Shopping Plaza, Meidan Apartments and other properties.
He is a fellow of the Institute of Construction Industry Arbitrators of Nigeria. He has been happily married to Honorable Justice (Mrs) Olumuyiwa Oluseun Martins for just over 30 (thirty) years and the marriage is blessed with a wonderful son, Abdulazeez Oluwafiyisola Martins a Master of Engineering graduate of Imperial College, London. He is a member of the International Bar Association. He is a past Hon. General Secretary and past Chairman of the prestigious Yoruba Tennis Club, a past Vice President of the Oxford and Cambridge Club of Nigeria, a former National Secretary and Past President of the Methodist Boys' High School Old Boys National Association and the current Chairman of the Crescent Bearers (1939) Lagos.
'Dele Martins is a member of the management committee and serves as
a Joint Honorary
Secretary of the Metropolitan Club, Lagos. He is also a member of
the lkoyi Club (1938)
Lagos and the Board of Trustees of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Education
Trust. He is a former Board
Member and Trustee of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund.
His hobbies include swimming, squash, working out in the Gym and
listening to music.
Current Crescent Bearers
The Association at any point in time, consists of not more than thirty (30) members, such members being Muslim gentlemen resident in, and of LAGOS State Origin.
